Egg Puffs | Wheat Egg Puffs Without Oven | How To Make Wheat Egg Puffs
The Egg puff is made using wheat flour which makes it a healthy snack. You don't require an oven to prepare this puff as it is cooked in a pan. Check out the pretty simple recipe of wheat egg puff.
Egg puffs, have you ever tasted it? I know the answer is yes for most of us. When I was in college, there was a bakery near to my college and me and my friends used to have drinks and snacks there. So during those college days, my first choice was egg puffs always. Nowadays my daughter is also asking me to buy egg puffs for her. But I want to make it in the healthiest way. So I used atta instead of all-purpose flour. Actually, I never expected it to come out well as we normally like the taste of all-purpose flour. But It was having great taste and we didn’t even use oven also for making it. It’s really a good snack for your child. My child likes it very much. As the first attempt itself was a success, I and my child is very much interested in trying this snack frequently. Do you want to try this? So let’s cook.
Ingredients for Wheat Egg Puffs
For puff pastry sheets
- 2 cups wheat flour
- 2 tsp butter
- salt to taste
- water
For filling
- 2 onions
- 2 tsp oil
- 3 boiled eggs
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 2 finely chopped green chillies
- Chopped Curry leaves
- 1 ½ tsp chilli powder
- ¼ tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- ½ tsp garam masala
- ½ tsp black pepper powder
- Salt as required
For egg wash
- 1 egg
Preparation for Wheat Egg Puffs
- In a large bowl, stir the flours well, butter and salt. Add enough water and knead to form a supple dough.
- Cover with clear film(plastic wrap) and leave to one side for 15 minutes to rest.
- Roll this dough into a thin sheet and cut square shapes from it.
- To make the filling, heat the oil in a frying pan and sauté ginger-garlic paste, chopped onion, green chillies and curry leaves.
- Add chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and black pepper. Sauté well.
- Take a pan with a fitting lid and spread a baking sheet inside. Rub some oil on this baking sheet.
- Allow the pan to heat up on the low flame.
- Place a spoon full of the masala filling in the centre of each square sheet of dough. Now place half of a boiled egg on top of it.
- Fold the sheet from four sides into a puff.
- Give these puffs a nice coating of egg wash.
- Place these puffs inside the hot pan and cook with the lid on.
- Cook the puff on both sides by flipping it.

Method for Wheat Egg Puffs
1. Sift the flour, butter and salt into a large mixing bowl
2. Add enough water and knead to form a supple dough. Cover with clear film(plastic wrap) and leave to one side for 15 minutes to rest.
3. Heat oil in a pan
4. Add ginger-garlic paste and stir well
5. Add onion, green chilli and curry leave to fry until the onion becomes soft.
7. Add black pepper powder and stir well.
8. Take a pan with a fitting lid and spread a baking sheet inside. Rub some oil on this baking sheet.
9. Allow the pan to heat up on the low flame.
10. Roll this dough into a thin sheet and cut square shapes from it. step 1
11. Cut the boiled egg into two pieces
12. Place a spoon full of the masala filling in the centre of each square sheet of dough.
13. place half of a boiled egg on top of it.
14. Dip your finger in water and apply it on the edges of the sheet. Pull the corners towards the centre diagonally and seel them.

15. Give these puffs a nice coating of egg wash.
